The cleric is an odd mix of fighter and mage. They have significant differences to each and in some ways can become greater than them in their respective martial areas. Clerics worship a single element and can be evil or good, meaning they can utilise magic of one element to incredible levels of skill (for beings so low in level) with their peaks being the fourth level in a single element. Their abilities are normally defencive too, allowing them to take beatings on par with fighters. Their ideology of defence has also lead to them developing great healing powers, capable of using healing magic to the fourth level.
When clerics have reached the limits of their powers they are upgraded into priests. The priest is superior to the cleric in every way, especially in the arts of healing and in the magic of their chosen element. They are capable utilising seventh level healing magic and sixth level magic of the element they worship, with the few spells of other elements never rising beyond level three. Their defencive abilities are also boosted but significantly less than their powers of healing and elemental specific magic.
The "master" levels a cleric aspires to reach both have one thing in common: They gain a tremendous amount of skill in melee combat. The normal progression is from cleric to paladin, a warrior that fights for their elemental lords with zeal and power. They can use tenth level healing magic and eighth level elemental magic. The paladin is synonymous with his skill in melee combat too, with a distinct skill in defence but an enourmous power in attack too. They are even capable of matching warriors in combat.
The other "master" level of a cleric is that of a slayer. These are priests who desire only to destroy the element that opposes the one they worship. This has given them no boost in healing magic but they can utilise tenth level magic of their element alone at the expense of using magic of any other element. Their combat skills also change from being specialised in defence to being specialised in attack, often looking like a cross between an assassin and a warrior. Their attacking capabilities against their opposing element is almost as great as a samurai's attack power but against other elements it is slightly lower than that of a warriors.
