A werewolf is a being that on the night of a full moon will transform into a half wolf half original race monster that will be crazed and desire only destruction and death. Werewolves in their monstrous form tend to be 8-10ft tall beings that are rippling with muscle and fur with huge teeth and claws. They are some of the most vicious close quarter fighters in existance.
When not transformed the werewolf is like any other member of it's old race, but cannot truly be killed by anything other than silver. The silver must strike the heart or brain too and mere holes caused by arrows will not do enough damage to kill the werewolf permanently. If a werewolf is unchanged and "killed" it will essentially be a corpse until the full moon rises at which point it will transform and rise again, ready to hunt again. To become a werewolf a being must be bitten by one and survive. Clawing won't do the trick, only a bite. If they survive they will become violently ill until their first full moon whereupon they will have their first change.
The older the werewolf gets the more it can retain it's sense of self. These werewolves are exceptionally dangerous as they can resist the urge to stupidly and simplemindedly try and rip anything in sight to bloody shreds and can calculate and plan it's movement. Werewolves who know that this power can be attained often become shaman or druids to use the spirits of the land to help them control their own feral instinct. The most powerful werewolf shaman and druids are even able to utilise their transformed forms at will and to varying degrees, able to merely grow slightly larger, hairier and more feral to becoming actual wolves. All werewolves become attuned to the element of earth upon becoming wolves.
